Description

The Divine Code is a comprehensive, clear, and expertly researched English-language guide for study and practical observance of the Seven Commandments for the Children of Noah (all non-Jews). It examines the Torah-law foundations and details of the Noahide precepts, and unlike the popular overviews that were available in the past, this authoritative text is footnoted with extensively researched Talmudic and post-Talmudic sources. It clearly identifies and applies the fundamental principles by which the practical requirements for righteous living are determined for pious non-Jews.

This expanded edition of Volume I now contains seven parts, with contributed introductions for each part by leading rabbis and experts:

Part I: Fundamentals of the Faith
Part II: The Prohibition of Idolatry
Part III: The Prohibition of Blasphemy
Part IV: The Prohibition of Eating Meat that was Separated from a Living Animal
Part V: The Prohibition of Murder and Injury
Part VI: The Prohibition of Forbidden Relations
Part VII-A: The Prohibition of Theft

Part I includes principles of the Torah-based monotheistic faith, the Divine rewards that non-Jews may earn by observing of the Noahide Code, and practical guides to subjects of primary importance in daily life: Torah study, daily prayers, moral imperatives, and returning to the righteous path. The book also explains the Torah basis for outreach to non-Jews regarding the Noahide Code, and aspects of the Noahide commandment for laws and courts are discussed throughout.

Volume II (in preparation) will include Part VII-B on additional topics related to the prohibition of theft, and Part VIII on establishing laws and courts.

The Divine Code is a translation from the original Hebrew books, Sheva Mitzvot HaShem, Volumes I and II, with abundant Editor's Notes.

Sheva Mitzvot HaShem was submitted for review to the world-renowned rabbinic authority, Haga'on Rav Zalman Nechemiah Goldberg shlit"a, member of the Supreme Rabbinical Court of Israel, who examined the full text in detail, added comments in many of the footnotes, and granted his approbation. The set also enjoys approbations from the current Chief Rabbis of Israel, Rav Shlomo Moshe Amar and Rav Yona Metzger; Rav Yakov Y. Eliezrov, Head of the Rabbinical Court of Greater Jerusalem; and Rav Gedalia Dov Schwartz, Av Beit Din for both the Chicago Rabbinical Council (CRC) and the Rabbinical Council of America (RCA). Rav Jacob Immanuel Schochet of Toronto, Canada, is a contributing author in the section on recommended daily prayers for Noahides.
